“But how exactly did you fall in love with being Jewish?”: Recap #2

Several readers have asked, “buthow exactly did you actually fall in love with being Jewish?” To respond, I’ve been organizing my stories into segments recapping different steps along the way. The first recap was on:

This next recap is about….
finding our way back home.

Home
Into the tribe and the religion of our fathers and mothers….
Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebecca, Jacob, Leah, and Rachel…

Before I start, I want to share with you that six weeks ago I took the BIG JUMP and am now observing Shabbat! This is a huge change for me but feels right. Friday sundown for 25 hours until Saturday night. At the end of the stories below, I’ve linked my first and then most recent mini videos, which are micro glimpses into observing Shabbat. I’m not generally a “pun” person, but I had to find a way to keep the “micro mini’ theme going. You’ll see.  😉

SHABBAT SHALOM From The Car! Week 1: Below is a short video quickly shot in the car just before my first observant Shabbat (second including my “spectator” experiences). Of course I was rushing.

SHABBAT SHALOM  Week 6:  **Quick Shabbat tip…. One Shabbat observance is that we don’t kindle a flame (lighting or extinguishing) during Shabbat. This is the reason we light the candles BEFORE sundown. Meaning, we also don’t blow out a match! What do we do then? See my one minute video below for  the answer to this mystery. Steep learning curve! 😊🔥😲

Shabbat has been the biggest adventure so far. These experiences have all been a surprise. I never thought I’d be who I’m becoming. Or who I (we) were all along.
